https://m.facebook.com/AdventureKidsLearning/ http://goo.gl/forms/x9T9AGR4eU Colts Neck students got to visit Ohio, Texas, and another New Jersey school this week using distance learning. Fifth graders in the classes of Mrs. Murphy, Mrs. Daly, and Mrs. Gunnell learned about cells from the Cleveland Museum of Natural History with a virtual experience. Fourth graders in Dr. Martino's class learned about the Constitution with an expert connection from actress Janine Turner through Constituting America. While learning about world governments, Mr. Czerwinski's eighth graders collaborated in a partner project with students in Deal School using the Comments Tool in Google Slides and culminated with a video conference to jointly present their research. Three different types of distance learning events provided Colts Neck students with opportunities to break down classroom walls!

living in the Ring of Fire"Great distance learning program that features a discussion of tectonic plate boundaries and how plate movements create and shape coastlines, deep ocean trenches, and mid-ocean ridges. This is followed by a description of undersea volcanoes (seamounts) that hold evidence of the Pacific plate's movement. Finally the discussion leads to how earthquakes and tsunamis have shaped both land & lives on the Kenai Peninsula, changing the course of Seward’s history in 1964."

"Challenger’s e-Missions are simulated, problem-based, interactive learning adventures delivered right into the classroom via distance learning technology.
Classes assemble as emergency response teams and then connect using video conferencing to Mission Control. These live scenarios are conducted in your classroom by a Flight Director at Mission Control from the Challenger Learning Center." For middle school and up, this CILC distance learning program from Science Central in Indiana highlights the springboard to inquiry - discrepant events. A variety of demonstrations and activities that promote mental conflict and those "Whaaat??" moments will be getting students "thinking in a new way." Check out #WhatFloats for many great #distancelearning programs offered during the week of Oct. 5-9 through @cilcorg.
